In my lifetime, I have seen the government’s massive increase of power. I went from not really understanding the government to looking at it as a legitimate threat to my way of life.
Even with its massive consolidation of power there are plenty weaknesses to exploit. Some states are just better locations for this. Let’s talk about the best states to outfox FEMA.
Biggest Threats from FEMA
There are three major threats that FEMA presents to preppers. These are probably not new to you. In fact, over the years, the executive powers of the government have grown out of control and now they can take almost unlimited action in an emergency.
CONFISCATION OF SUPPLIES
For preppers this is a big deal. Confiscation of resources has been on the books for a long time. In 2020 Donald Trump signed a massive executive order that gave the government untold power to take basically whatever they deemed necessary.

Executive Order 13910—Preventing Hoarding of Health and Medical Resources To Respond to the Spread of COVID–19
(i) the authority of the President conferred by section 102 of the Act to prevent hoarding of health and medical resources necessary to respond to the spread of COVID–19 within the United States, including the authority to prescribe conditions with respect to the accumulation of such resources, and to designate any material as a scarce material, or as a material the supply of which would be threatened by persons accumulating the material either in excess of reasonable demands of business, personal, or home consumption, or for the purpose of resale at prices in excess of prevailing market prices.
RELOCATION OF PEOPLE
Thanks to the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act the government has the ability to detain American citizens indefinitely without a trial for “as long as hostilities exist.” This could be based on affiliation with certain people, groups or political movements. Remember, no trial means you cannot prove or disprove affiliation.
With the current status of unending world conflict, you should understand that these “hostilities” can be used in any manor the oppressive government sees fit.
MARTIAL LAW
Then of course there are the curfews, loss of liberties and fear that goes along with the institution of Martial Law. We have not seen it happen much, but it has happened in the nation.

Exploiting the Government’s Great Weakness
In order to outfox FEMA, you have to first understand their greatest weakness. It is sheer numbers of people and their ability to enforce things like confiscation.
FEMA itself only employees 20,000 people and all of them are not going to be active in the field. DHS employees many more, 240,000, but only a percentage are going to be boots on the ground in an emergency.
With 8.8 million people in NYC, 2.7 million people in Chicago, a whopping 10 million people in LA County, 2.5 million in Houston, you can see how quickly the numbers of people to enforce things like Martial Law and confiscation would dwindle in a national crisis.
Alaska
Being the last great frontier in America, the population is so sparse and the landscape so tough that government agencies would not be able to justify any kind of ROI for managing, confiscating, relocating, or probably even stepping foot inside the state.
All that said, if you are willing to learn and hustle you can certainly survive in Alaska and even create a small sustainable prepping community that could be completely off the government’s radar.
Oklahoma
There is a lot of potential in Oklahoma and Eastern OK has been looking real good lately. It is a place where the population is low which means they are less important when it comes to controlling populations in emergencies.
The politics of Oklahoma would also fight to keep things like Federal Martial Law out of the state.
Tennessee
Tennessee is one of those states that is hiding just behind the veil of the overpopulated east coast. It is waiting for the right kind of person to stop looking east and turn around and see what could lie west.
As far as prepping and self-reliance are concerned, it’s a great state and hits all the markers. The major cities are small and would not peak the interests of emergency operations over larger cities like NYC and Chicago.

Ohio
Ohio is a great state for preppers with plentiful natural resources. However, it’s largest city, Columbus, has under 1 million people. Population density in most parts of the state is very low.
There is not a lot that FEMA would want from a state like Ohio to confiscate and spread around the nation.
The Rockies
There are a lot of states that contain portions of the Rocky Mountains. I think they are all worth considering when it comes outfoxing FEMA. Again, with limited resources FEMA would have limited desire to send people up these mountains to manage small populations. It’s just not efficient.
People living in and around the Rockies, in towns and counties will simply be left to survive on their own. You can use that to your benefit!
Not Texas?
You might be surprised that I did not include Texas on this list. To me, Texas represents a place of massive future conflict. When talks of secession come up Texas is the first to raise its hand. There is a nightmare on the border and the politics are becoming increasingly splintered.
As time goes by, I think Texas is going to be a focal point of much conflict in our nation. Of course, Texas is big so there is a lot of varied terrain to hide out in or just to get off the beaten path enough not to be bothered.
It’s just not one of my picks. I have a feeling many of you will disagree.

Final Words
Popular prepping havens like the Redoubt, the Ozarks and even parts of North Carolina might seem like a great place to move. If you know about these places, then DHS and FEMA know about them.
They also understand that prepper communities are housing MASSIVE amounts of resources that could be distributed to larger cities in need. While they might be met with aggression there is a good chance that these places would be approached by FEMA in a serious emergency.
It’s a numbers game for FEMA. Even with the help of the military or NATO, as many like to fantasize about, there are simply not enough people to oppress all the major cities in the nation let alone the smaller, quieter places.

Way to late when they are at the door
they don’t need to round you all up.. its called starving you out and freezing you out. Once you run out of food you will kindly turn yourself in for whatever the FEMA / UN wants to give and take from you.
And the VAST majority will not only turn but will easily give up others.
true and people don’t want to hear the truth… thus they down vote me all the time…. People are pretty sad.
So true. Most Americans have no idea what hunger and cold mean to the human psyche and bodily comfort. We really are soft. When the neo-liberals (currently the Democrats) gain control of the food and transportation supply, and fail miserably at it, most people will fall in line. Old Chinese saying, “it is better to live as a slave than die a martyr” is applicable here. Those of us who follow the prepping ways are the minority and live in a dream of freedom and self-sufficiency, but the chances are that it won’t work as we imagine it. Unfortunately, the wilds are few and far between and unless the military and law enforcement types join the cause, which is unlikely as they would rather feed themselves and their families from the government teat than experience the pain and suffering required to attain and keep liberty and freedom, we are toast. That is just basics of human nature – most people are likely to choose food and comfort over liberty and freedom. Very sad, but also very true.
when lol…… when was 70 years ago. plus it doesn’t matter voting is dead and neither aide cares
Not if you’re WELL Prepared with lots of food hidden away in secret caches , heirloom seeds , Lots of firewood and warm survival clothing and a great secret hidden bugout location that’s easily accessible to you but Very Hard for them to Find that’s Well Stocked and Well Insulated !!!
FEMA is a threat as is all agencies that can be Federalized for service for “The Duration of the Emergency “. I noticed local police being “Required ” to “assist ” Federal law enforcement agencies often lately.
More DANGEROUS in my opinion is the Socialist Democrats “See Something Say Something ” KAREN troops.
The Secret Police of Nazi Germany, Soviet Union and even China NEEDS the eyes and ears of willing collaborators to do their evil work.
OPSEC isn’t something you do AFTER folks are being rounded up for hoarding.
As Kyle of Kenosha found out your Social Media posts WILL be used against you. Even Ask a Prepper.
Try to remember what you post is the same as talking about it in a coffee shop.
I would say that a rural coffee shop is probably far more secure than an internet forum. Like the reply section of this website.
When one stays anonymous online, it is difficult to pin much on the person.
That is why I use offshore anonymous emails (several), never do SM either. I also share those emails with a group so as to dilute who says what.
I use others internet too. And DON’T USE WINDOZE OR MAC or even own a cell phone.
Pay cash for everything.
I never put any personal info online, especially where anyone (Google, government, nosy people) can get their grubby hands on it.
Besides, I say and do little to draw attention to myself.
And when I do, I leave a false trail of breadcrumbs for others to see and follow.
crazysquirrel, you’re not anonymous online. There’s nothing you can do that makes you anonymous online. There’s no encryption on your phone or your computer that is not broken by the government.
Read about the encrypted chats that were used by those who were in DC on January 6.
I use a VPN on all my computers, not to hide from the Government because I know I cant, but because they let my ISP track and log all the web sites I go to and, since it’s a small town ISP, people who know me would know where I go online. In spite of the VPN, and different VPN connections for different devices, I bought an espresso machine from Walmart on one PC and the next day Bing gives me an ad for espresso machines from Target. Similar ad-following has happened far too often for coincidence.
There were reports several years back about the government’s ability to connect various usernames to the same person by their writing style online. Machine learning and artificial intelligence are powerful stuff.
If the advertisers, including Microsoft and Google (I never do Facebook so I don’t worry about theirs) are able to track you regardless of all your efforts to stop them, you can rest assured that the Government can do the same.
Michael, I know this for a fact if it comes down to the local police in the south doing what the feds say is not going to happen in a SHFT. I have many friends that are police officers, and they all say same thing if a SHFT happens there will be no police. Ask yourself if you were an officer what would you do stay home and protect your family or go out to confiscate someone’s stores.
Dread I wish you were correct. Some *Might* resist but given how many do EXACTLY what their Paychecks and Retirement folks tell them to do is discouraging.
Or as that saying goes “Talk is Cheap, throwing your paycheck and health care away IS NOT Cheap”.
SHTF isn’t generally a BOOM EVENT, 0-60 and all that stuff. It’s ONGOING Right Now a slow disintegration of social safety nets, shortages of once common food and such in stores, blind eyes to street thugs doing whatever they want in AT First Blue Cities (Like Atlanta and Charleston) then later other cities and towns.
Our small towns might be the last to falter and fall but things ARE failing before our eyes.
Thus we prepare. Winter is coming and BTW I know what season we are in.
Micheal.
My 1st job after the Army was with an east coast police department / animal control.
Something personal had affected our family deeply and we had to find someone who tried to not be found. Filed a report, and since I had the Id card access I was on the business side of the desk with the investigator and got to see with my own 2 eyes what happened. Mind you this was around 2012 so things might be different now ….
He needed the person’s Facebook account name. I told him she wouldn’t reply to his message, he said he had something alot better.
I gave him her Facebook name, and he logged right into her account. Apparently Facebook, at least then not for sure about now, has 3 passwords for every account.
Facebook’s password.
The password you make.
Law enforcement s password.
I am so glad I left all of those social media sites about 6 years ago. All I have now is email. It has freed up a lot of time.
Exodus and Michael I understand where you are coming from, and I thought about same as you are thinking. But after speaking over the last year with police/sheriff friends in my area and from other areas, I have come to the conclusion that in Mississippi they will not support taking anything from the people they are sworn to protect, this includes firearms, food and other things considered a necessity by these organizations.
When FEMA and the other organizations decide it is time to start gathering these supplies (I think it will not be for use by the general population but for their own use) The police will actually stand against them. See most of the police are just like me redneck country boys and they don’t take a lot of guff off anyone. I believe Mississippi will stand against the Federal government as will a lot of states when all this goes down.
Dreaded its cute when “the boys and blue say that to you now” Did you expect them to tell you the truth. That they will round up your guns…. they will take your food and they will target your family. They get paid to lie, they get paid to run up a racket of fining people for no reason. .
Dreaded, after Katrina, they brought in Highway Patrol officers from California and National Guard from Oklahoma to do the dirty work. It won’t necessarily be your neighborhood police you will face in a disaster.
Dreaded: I hope and pray red states stand firm against the greed of liberals. Remember what happened to the Tarahumara in the 90s, when hillary clinton ran the US. She watched 9,000 people starve to death in what turned out to be genetic cleansing using them as lab rats. Waco, the Navajo, and others were killed without her blinking an eye. She’s a nazi, and obeys soros, who thinks he supposed to turn the world into one nazi state with the help of whoever is the next caliph. niio
Why not Florida?
Florida is probably the worst state to live in regarding natural disasters.
With only 160 miles of land tying the state to the rest of the continent, there is not much of an escape route and the swamps and access to roads in or out make for an easily controlled population. Unless you have a boat and can fish for food when the weather is not storming, one would be left to swamp living. Swamp living might not be bad and the food is plentiful, but the average ability of an American in a survival situation would cut a lifespan down in no time if the authorities did not line the person up for injections, inspection and claims of insurrections. Huh… How about that, I made an all I type of rhyming thing.
Stay safe.
Right you are, Florida would be a hard state to escape from.
..that, and despite the fact that the governor seems to be keeping things going pretty well, there are an awful lot of new Florida residents who are escapees from the big blue cities. They want “freedom” but I’m not sure they have an idea of what it really is…
I wish the good governors of conservative states and conservative pundits would quit telling people in the blue coast cities to move to conservative areas – many of them are responsible for creating the hell holes they want to escape. I say stay in the sewers you have built, and FIX them – we can’t afford to have you polluting what is still relatively clean and functional.
Hard state to escape from…. you have water on 3 sides of the state …. pick one and use a boat and go.
How is western wa looking. We are west of the rockies half way between Seattle and Portland.
LOOK AT YOUR STATE LAWS!!!! I REST MY CASE!!!!!
Debbie: Unfortunately, WA and OR have been Kallifornicated. Look at which party dominates in the House of Representatives in DC from your state. What party are your federal senators? What party is the majority party in your own state government?
Now look at your local area. What party is your congressional district representative?
What party dominates in your county governing board? Do you have any big tech companies headquartered in your county? What party dominates in your town or city council. When you have done your homework you will know how you stand.
Actually with the nonsense going on in Seattle still, I am surprised you asked the question.
Folks in OR and WA sold their birthright years ago when Kallifornicators, fleeing the mess they had created in this formerly great state, seduced them with offering too much money for a foothold in those formerly decent places to live. Very promptly they started to turn those states into the same chess pools they had created in Kallifornicated.
Debbie,
Chehalis, Washington is where there is currently being built a camp for the unvaccinated. Washington state had several camps similar to that for the Japanese. I would imagine that once the camp is built, they might find more reasons to send families there.
forget about any type of state or area categorization >> ridiculous attempt to make an article topic controversial >>> threats to preppers are real enough
worry less about FEMA and more about tipping your preparing unloading your Costco booty in front of the neighbors ….
you live way to close to people if the threat of unloading food into your home becomes a issue.
You buy steady not in large amounts.
Draws less attention that way.
yeah thats way to close if you need to adjust the amounts you buy….
and what your neighbors won’t wonder….why you have food when things go south.
again…. cooking food and the smell is a issue…. move… to a location that doesn’t have you on top of people. Seriously the world implodes and you end up as the guy with the food. You will be burned out by the mob.
and when the SHTF, have plenty of baggy clothes to wear because observers should believe you’re losing weight like the rest are.
And while I would never suggest violating the law or falsifying any documentation for the government, I have heard others suggest that, even if you have food, make sure to be present in any government hand-out lines or people might wonder why you’re not as desperate as they are.
Dale plus on top of it you can probably take the food truck by force as well.
Warrior: That’s why we have a garage. Back the truck in, unload. niio
We do the same red.
My real concern would be being able to mask the smell from cooking.
Even a solar oven seems to still release the smell of cooking food
Exodus: How are you with a solar dryer? I’m in Arizona so drying sopa seca (dried soup) isn’t hard. in Mexico, they make a stew, then drain the broth off overnight, have that the next day and spread the stew out in a shady place to dry. Just add water. Same with refried beans and so on. Meat (a machaca), is cut thin, soaked in a salsa (which is acidic), roasted by an open fire) shredded and dried. Pasta is made with starch (it holds cornmeal and so on together), boiled, then dried. When they pick corn (sweet or field for roasting ears) half is hung up to dry. Stalks can be chopped and cooked for syrup like sorghum is. Stuff like this has made a big come-back. To preserve chilis or sweet peppers, wash, stem, chop, and ferment into salsa picante. It’s a vinegar and should keep for years at room temperature. If you watch a Western, under the cook’s wagon is a small bucket with that. Sweet or hot, it’s great for flavoring food. Commercial brands add tomato juice as a stretcher. niio
I bet Arkansas is also safe from FEMA. I relocated from Texas to rural Arkansas. Bought my home from the local Game Warden. He is like US in this community!!! He’s actually one of us and that’s a good thing!
I don’t have anything FEMA would be interested in. I buy cases of food and then drop them off anonymously at local charities and churches. Hopefully they can feed me in an emergency.
Dale: old Marine Corps saying, “Hold hope in one hand and excrement ( we used a different noun) in the other and see which one fills up fastest.”
I hate to rain on your parade and I hope if push comes to shove you will be able to say to yourself, “Ha! So much for your view LCC.”
However, so far this year my pessimism has been born out.
Dale,
Take a look at who is currently in line for food at some of these places. Some truly look like they could use it but way too many have spent a ton of money on tattoos and other body embellishments. It is kind of you to share but I would not count on those who are currently in line letting you be there.
You guys realize I was being facetious, right? Like saying I lost all my guns in a boating accident. Just accounting for all those canned goods I buy by the case.
But we’ve always eaten a lot of canned food and have always bought it by the case or more. There’s no new trend of us stocking up or hoarding; we’ve always bought and consumed a lot of canned goods.
FEMA does not control any form of Martial law, they are there to help you in an emergency. try to tell them to leave after you lost everything in a tornado, they will look at you as if your nuts, and with good reason. The national guard does do the martial law thing. This has not happened. Its a scare tactic on the republican party side. Yes they are taking away rights, like voting rights, a woman right to chose, putting fear into their own constituents minds regarding immigration and voter fraud.
Just stop already.
You misspelled Democrat.
Turn off CNN and turn on your brain!
no it is spelled this way RATS
I take it that You have some experience with this view
Good luck with that
Martial law IS IN EFFECT NOW! search for yourself
just to give you a hint of “martial law” that wasn’t even officially declared >>> look back on the Boston area search for the two Muslim brothers responsible for the Boston Marathon Bombing ….
All residents were locked down under both PD & National Guard threat of arrest and/or shooting – homeowners escorted & dragged from their homes with a gun to their heads – basically, Civil rights were suspended …
AND – there wasn’t a single Republican involved trying to scare people ….
Lisa demonstrates just how effective brainwashing can be.
Look into the Greensburg, Kansas tornado.
Look at Katrina. People who were perfectly prepared, even on high ground, forced at gunpoint to leave their homes. One case a man on high ground showed the National Guard his store room full of supplies and water, proving he was no burden to the Guard or to FEMA and would/could take care of himself. He was forced to leave at gun point. And we all, except probably you, about the gun confiscations and destructions.
This is a leftist Marxist at work!!!!!
Hold onto that thought Lisa.
Hopefully you never have to find out how wrong you are about so many things.
But for what it’s worth, the D’s and R’s are the same. They just have different marketing teams and tactics. And when it comes down to it, neither is going to preserve anybody’s rights…except their own.
And the CDC and other NON elected officials don’t have the ability to influence and downright illegally enforce mandates and moritoriums ….
Oh wait.
I forgot ??
LOL Clown World and like the “Hotel California” you can check out, but you can never leave”.
You can’t vote yourself out of clown world.
Exodus: When discussing the CDC and others, a clown face is appropriate. 🙂 niio
I think comparing governmental types to clowns is an insult to clowns. Clowns are highly paid professional performers who strive constantly to improve their performance as contrasted to bureaucrats who got where they are only by improving their rectal osculatory technique. Job performance is far from their concern. “You’re doing a hell of a job, Brownie.”
Remember that infamous quote, when, in fact, it was the opposite. Well, I guess one might possibly infer from the words that instead of being the congratulatory phrase most interpreted it as, George Jr., might have meant the words literally in which case they would have be an accurate description of the job Brownie was doing. I seriously doubt that interpretation. We all know what kind of job the whole government was performing is nowhere near the professional performance clowns put on twice a day and three times on Saturday and Sunday.
We live in Florida, free for now but what I’m seeing of the people moving here from up North is Liberal and left leaning. Now we are getting ready to move to Ohio, more like minded people and a great place to garden and be sustainable. Getting too crowded down here. Glad Ohio is on the list.
I used to live in NY, now in NC.
I’d move south to Florida for the nicer weather, grow veggies in a green-house and get a couple of boats for fishing and getting away.
Ohio might be less populated but have you tried a winter there? It’s brutal cold!
good point on the cold weather, but, we are originally from Ohio, and that is where our support team is, we moved to Florida 18 years ago, we love the weather, But the people not so much, because everybody wants to move to Florida, it’s getting too crowded here for our taste, we’ve seen too many undesirables moving into our once family friendly neighborhood. and we’ve put a lot of thought into this upcoming move.
If you try a greenhouse in Florida you’ll cook your veggies before they are ready to harvest, at least in our part of Florida
Exodus: 45% shade cloth over the greenhouse might help. But, a lathe house is better for summer. Do you raise prickly pear? there’s a variety that’s native. One variety in Cuba gets over 10 feet tall. niio
Can you explain the map at the beginning of the article? I am not able to see the key – are green houses good? If so, would agree with CA areas. Except for drones lighting fires in the summer.
From reading the article I’d guess green houses are good locations and the bigger the red dots the worse. I don’t think anyone can see the map legend. It is cut off on my 27-inch screen.
Map is pretty, not there to convey info, quirky part of this site.
Private organizations like Texas Baptist Men Disaster relief show up with workers and many semi loads of supplies at sunrise on the 1st day after a disaster. FEMA shows up with their wimpy contribution on the 4th day. FEMA is a weak minded undermanned Federal Beauracracy that is less of a threat than a wet puppy. I think the military will spend their resources securing sea ports and the huge inland ports in Texas and the MidWest, that is where all the resources are. Interesting bit of history, when Sherman invaded the lower South he abandoned his supply line and sent thousands of ‘Bummers’ to seize supplies from the population. They quickly discovered that the average Joe didn’t have much but that the wealthy citizens had secretly amassed warehouses full of the finest food money could buy. I think the idea that organized forces will take your food to share with other citizens is funny, they will take your food to feed their own people.
No urban area will be safe if the SHTF in a big way, rural Texas will be as good a place to be as any. Most of the border runs through lightly populated areas, and there won’t be much reason for the Narcos to come over here, nobody to buy dope. And when strict observance of the rule of law fails crossing over is going to be a much riskier proposition. Rural Texas is heavily armed and a lot better organized than you’d think, we work together in Sheriffs Associations, Stockmens Associations, Volunteer Fire Dept, the VFW, Fraternal organizations. And the Highway Patrol and Game Wardens are well armed paramilitaries with strong local ties, haha what other State operates armored river patrol boats mounting M2s?
Yea dont the citizens out number the govt. officials ?
Yeah but half of the citizens are brainwashed DemoSocialists.
The author left out several states where the Governors have told the Marxists in power (Fauci included) to take a hike!!! The 10th Amendment shall prevail !!!!! Also Texas is going for secession with the Texas Republic Movement !!!
TX will be blue by 2024 they almost did it 2020. you can’t stop the illegals and west coasters from destroying everything as they exit
True, there is a flood of people heading here from California. Shoot, a dem hasn’t won a statewide office here in 20 years. Left on their own the Republicans have gotten to the point of doing more harm than good, a little Blue competition can only help. But it is pretty funny when a Snowflake new to country living encounters a rat snake on his porch the 1st time and speed dials 911.
Texas ain’t gonna secede again, we’re more American than most. Only knuckle headed Canadians like Ted Cruz talk that stuff.
A true Texan will not turn blue, but the illegalities that are being used in tallying the votes will have Texas as politically blue. BUT, any politician, whether local, state or federal that doesn’t understand the current climate is potentially putting themselves and their families in harms way. I read where 2 more House democrats are not seeking re-election. Rats deserting a sinking ship? or do they see the brewing civil war that they are helping to create?
I have not had a need to accept FEMA assistance, nor do I perceive requesting assistance in the future, but I know that FEMA will be knocking down doors in my area if things go south. I am more worried about the illegals than I am the government at this moment. At least with the government, you may get lucky and get someone that feels somewhat guilty about their actions.
Same goes for SE states, for the same reasons (though it’s more because of NE expats than CA expats). It’s really pathetic how they shit where they eat for years, then move to the places they’ve derided up until the day the UHaul is packed.
Just remember, FEMA IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. They are licensed domestic TERRORISTS. When they rear their head, act accordingly. No rules. They hate your freedom, real or perceived. Sacrifices will be required. Look at our history. They may not need to fire one shot; but we will . Remember this too, war doesn’t determine who’s right, just who’s left. Don’t be the aggressor.
I believe Homeland Security is a bigger threat than FEMA. FEMA is a bunch of pencil pushers who contract out the heavy lifting. Homeland Security is the SS kicking down doors, throwing flashbangs and firing the incendiary devices masquerading as tear gas. They are the ones with the Mraps and armored up Humvees. They have the Bradleys with the 30mm chain gun. Them and the private armies known as “security companies.”
LCC I have to agree with your assessment.
As an Emergency Mgr I had opportunity to work directly with FEMA in the aftermath of 2 incidents.
FEMA was pretty easy. I drove them around for a few days as they took notes, they left and we ended up with a butt load of money.
Perhaps it would behoove people to gather together and employ their own “Security Guards” for their own areas?
Such as hiring a whole lot more people for the Sheriff’s Department as a Sheriff is supposed to stand up for the people…..but they can only do what they have the $ and man & woman Power to do,
And also how about more areas forming their own Militias? We have the right to do that. And Militias do NOT belong to the Gov. Neither states nor Feds…but to the PEOPLE. And we can have as many of them as we want.
WE ARE A FREE PEOPLE…but not if we do not use our God given RIGHTS.
We have a tool to use. It is the U.S. Constitution ….so read it and use it.
Hi Winynan,
I agree with your “right” to form organizations and even militias but these groups wind up being heavily monitored, infiltrated and labelled as dangers to society by the very organizations One would want to protect from.
Once that is in effect, they will pick off your weakest link and declare everyone involved to be some kind of “domestic terrorist” … whether You were at a School Board meeting or not 😀
As much as I am choking on the words, it would be best to follow the Constitutional Requirement that calls for a “well regulated militia”.
In my book this would be the equivalent of establishing a Corporation [like Pinkerton’s] so that such an organization [militia] would be protected by Legal Statute, not just the Constitution.
Constitutional cases are very expensive in the event You do get confrontation from the government and the odds are against You in such cases even if they go to the Supremes.
If your Corporation is “well regulated” [like Pinkerton’s] your protections come from lower and local courts and the government LOSES these cases almost automatically.
I agree with your “right” to form such an organization for your benefit and for the benefit of your family and community, but it is best to be as bulletproof as possible especially if bullets are going to be involved.
The best you can do is just work with groups that you KNOW who they are and vet them.
Are you a lawyer? Can you give any references where such a corporation has protected anyone? That’s not what’s meant by “well regulated”. It’s not about having lots of laws and rules; it’s about having consistency such as in equipment and training.
But a militia is not led by the owner of Joe’s Radiator Shop. Militias are run by governors – and not the National Guard. A really gutsy, and constitutionally correct, act would be for a governor to create and manage a militia that is not the National Guard.
they have state run ones…and some state’s do have them.. The unorganized ones which people can start and run them. Are legal and i think its a decent idea for people to get out and train, Learn some skills and help others.
Raven, anyone, in most states, can start a boys club and go out in the woods and shoot at targets… That doesn’t make them a militia as mentioned in the Constitution. If you start such a club and try to use it against the people or the government you will, hopefully, go to prison for a very long time.
From the Constitution: “To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress”
Your boys club must have leaders. Were they appointed by the Governor? When you train yourselves by going out in the woods and playing with your toys, was that training directed by the State and according to the discipline prescribed by Congress?
Guess what? Your militia is no more a constitutional militia than is the National Guard.
good grief dale why even be on a prepared site if you love the gov so much… i get it you’re a Fed plant trying to stir the pot. You seem like the kinda of rat would trys to incite a riot on jan 6th and shoot unarmed women.
The training club is part of the militia movement… all abile bodied men 18 to 45 are part of the militia and last i checked you didn’t need to have anyone from daddy gov to write you a check to keep you in place. I don’t even believe you need strutured rank in a miliita and the honest sad truth is they are the last line of defense if things went tits up and tyranicannical.. The founders throught so and they used that method…. but you sir are just a fed plant trying to stir the pot.
raven, you really are proving yourself to be an i***t.
First of, preparedness has nothing to do with loving or hating the government. Preparedness is, for most and certainly for me, about loving my family. How does preparing to survive a hurricane have anything to do with the government? How does preparing to survive a drought or fires or even economic collapse have anything to do with love or hatred for the government? You mistake preparedness for backwoods militia playing with toys in the woods. You watch too much cable TV.
You also do not understand patriotism. I have a question for you; do you consider yourself a patriot or are you a revolutionary? Most are not really either and still a bit of both but your impassioned views don’t leave you as one of the masses so you must certainly consider yourself one or the other. Which is it? I can tell you I am impassioned as well and I am most certainly a patriot.
As a patriot, I don’t love “the government” but I love the Nation and I love the Constitution and I love the work and hope that the Founders left for us. As a patriot, no, I don’t want to fight the government and I don’t want to tear it down or shred the Constitution.
As a patriot and a constitutionalist, otherwise known as a constitutional conservative, and as a vet sworn to do so, it is my duty to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Understanding the Constitution, I know that no revolt, revolution, armed insurgence, or other act of violence against the government can restore or support the Constitution. It is not possible to fight the government and create constitutional government. Nothing in the Constitution allows for removal of elected officials by force or installing temporary officials followed by an election (run by whom if government was taken down?) to continue our constitutional republic. Fighting or overturning the government, no matter how much we hate an individual or an act of that government, does not restore the nation, it ends it absolutely.
So, if you think you’re a patriot, you are not. You’re a revolutionary, right up there with Antifa and BLM. You hate America and are set on destroying it. If you loved America you would defend it, defend the Constitution, and work to fix what’s wrong within the Constitution. As it is, to me, you appear to be an enemy of the state as much as any Antifa member.
ok traitor…. people like you are the Dan Crenshaws of the world……
have fun fed boi have a good time.
No, I’m not a traitor to anything. To be a traitor I would have had to be a part of it and turned against it. I was never part of your revolution. I don’t know if you’re a vet; if you are then you are certainly bordering on treason. Even as an American, you’re bordering on insurrection. The only thing that saves you is that mom won’t give you the keys to the car and you have to put your pants on to leave the basement anyway so you’re all talk and no action.
I’m reading an interesting (to me) book by A.J.Sowell, Early Settlers And Indian Fighters of Southwest Texas. Mostly interviews he did with the 1st white people to settle the Texas Hill Country west of Austin, starting around 1840. The area was untouched wilderness, the Comanche and Apache traveled through it and hunted there but few Indians lived there. There was no law,no roads, very little technology beyond handtools, muzzle loading rifles, and the early 5 shot Colt revolvers that didn’t have much stopping power. Immigrants from Europe and Missouri settled there by the hundreds in the pretty little valleys and canyons, a few families in each valley separated from others by 10-20 miles. Communication was by horseback, everything pretty much how Preppers envision a return to the 18th Century. Security was mostly just the families in an area working together and trying to keep watch over each other. Indian attacks were random, not by the famous Comanche moon, but just hunting and raiding parties running onto settlers in the middle of the day. One or two men out working might be killed, or a whole family killed excepting a woman or child taken prisoner. The men in the area would band together and ride to other farms and ranches gathering a militia 20 or 30 strong and they would pursue the raiders, the outcome usually a fight someone would win and someone would lose. I’m surprised that as early as 1840 the Comanche were well armed with rifles and knew how to use them. I didn’t know so many on both sides were killed in these small fights over the years. We like to talk about defending the homestead after SHTF but it is all a lot more complicated and a lot deadlier than we imagine. Death is so random it’s hard to plan for.
Judge: Good post. It’s interesting that as far back as colonial times, all men over 12 had to belong to the local militia. That law is still on the books in most states and used to ‘deputize’ men. It’s how the Swiss stayed free of European shenanigans for centuries. Interesting, as well, is how Comancheros went from being an honorable profession to criminal on both sides of the border. niio
Good book
Excellent documentary:

Interesting link, I never believed a guy firing down into the crowd with a bumpstock managed to get 58 kills. Sadly, the truth is lost forever and we are left with the ever spinning web of conspiracy theory.
An equally disturbing question is what happened at the Kabul airport during the Biden disaster. It is impossible that a lone suicide bomber detonating a large suicide vest in a crowd could kill 200 people. I saw a couple of local people interviewed saying the American machine gun positions opened up on the crowd after the bomb went off, but that report disappeared in a hurry. There is no truth. The famous Syrian gas attack in Duoma was exposed as a CIA fraud by a crew from OAN interviewing ‘victims’ and Doctors, in fact the victims and Doctors later told their story in front of theU.N., but this truth has been thrown down the memory hole, too. Along with Bill Clinton’s signed agreement with the Russians not to expand NATO Eastwards. How can a person not Prep for disaster these days?
I had a conversation with a lady the day after the shooting. She claimed to have worked in the mayor’s office. Can’t verify that. She claimed that a contact in the mayor’s office told her that many of the casualties were caused when people ran out into traffic on LV Blvd. if you have ever been to LV and witnessed the speedway that is LV Blvd, you should be able to visualize what happens to folks who dash out into traffic.
For me, that is a far more realistic scenario than what is portrayed in the link. In any emergency 911 is flooded with calls reporting all kinds of nonsense.
I have never been in a shooting situation in a large city with many high rises, but I have read several first hand accounts by people who, were like Sarajevo, by some who were exchanging shots with folks on the other side of whatever conflict was at hand. According to folks who have been there and done that very thing, it is very difficult to pinpoint the source of gunfire in an urban area with tall buildings. That was why the LVMPD had a difficult time ascertaining where the shooter was located.
However, all that said, the whole LV shooting info that was released to the public was one gigantic lie. With the chaos in the mob I am as certain sitting here as I am of anything in life that most certainly people were injured by running out into traffic on LV Blvd at the height of that traffic. It is very likely that some were killed.
None of those injuries were reported. It was always an aggregate number a lie to make the shooting seem more deadly than it was.
Make no mistake, were I sitting on a jury and the shooter were charged with those injuries and deaths I would find him guilty as he was as responsible for their deaths as if he had hit them with a bullet.
The same is true of the unfortunate people who were trampled by the crowd and injured and perhaps killed. He is guilty of causing those injuries and possible deaths too but not by hitting them with a bullet. Yet that is all we read x number killed x number injured with some descriptions of folks who got shot only. No descriptions of folks trampled to death only that “some” were injured and killed trying to escape.
Why the lie? One reason of course was to try to ram through further gun restrictions. That happened with the Batfolk suddenly deciding that a bump stock was an automatic weapon and simple possession of same was a federal felony even if not mounted on a firearm.
My personal opinion of the bump stock is that it is a toy for folks who are still in their childhood mentally. For serious shootists, it is crap and not worth the money to purchase nor the effort to install.
And don’t tell me that you can put 19 rounds out of a 20 round mag in the X ring with such a device on any rifle because I will call you a bald faced liar. I am with the judge I know there was no accurate shooting from that balcony and I wondered about the claimed hits although after my conversation with the second hand reporter I was confident that some of the claimed injuries were the result of going mano a mano with motor vehicles on LV Blvd.
lc’
bumpstocks are for suppressive fire and for having fun.. anti gun trump killed thhat
raven, bump stocks are toys, as LCC stated. They just waste valuable, scarce, ammunition.
Sorry Dale… bump stock ban was an anti gun movement by the republicans like most gun control.. You tend to align with it because you voted for him.
I am sorry you don’t have the intelligence to understand how they did the ban… and how the ban changed the definition of a what a machine was.. how it opened the door for the ATF to put laws in without any regulation to the ATF and that alone is the perfect storm to put a ban on anything the ATF wants. They don’t need the any branch to vote it in.
but go ahead and grasp the dur dur comments of it was just a toy…. smoke the idea that your vote counts and it makes a difference and keep the dream going that they care about you.
Raven, I didn’t speak to the morality or the legality of the ban or the threat to liberty and the Constitution by the BATFE enacting laws by edict rather than the Congress. I just said that bump stocks are toys. And, as toys, they can’t be machine guns so aren’t legally banned – not that the ban and taxes on machine guns are legal.
Remember that the BATFE tried to ban 14 inch pieces of shoe string because they could be used to bump fire a gun. That doesn’t make shoe laces into machine guns; they still just shoe laces.
Dale
if you want to believe they aren’t machine guns. You got my thumbs up if you go to a public range with one and video it…. Its a felony at this point and its thanks to the republicans pretending to care about the 2a. Much like the past Bush’es and Regan himself just shitting all over the 2a.
I can’t figure out why some posts have reply links and others do not. I guess it’s that replies only go so many levels. It makes it very hard to follow the many diversions of topics.
Raven, the definition of a machine gun is something that fires more than one round with a single pull of the trigger. That’s why a Gatling gun is perfectly legal and why, before Vegas, the bump stock was perfectly legal. The trigger is pulled once for every round that goes down the pipe. A bump stock helps you to rapid fire your AR but it doesn’t make it automatic fire.
There are a lot of other ways to bump fire a gun; I already mentioned the shoe string. In fact it can be done without any device at all just by using the right pressure against the shoulder or belly.
If a bump stock makes a gun into a machine gun then that would validate the left’s definition of automatic weapon: any weapon that, when fired once, leaves the gun ready to fire another round with another trigger pull. That includes revolvers to many anti-gunners. Most revolvers have heavy triggers so bump firing might be difficult but it could be done, and especially on a hair-trigger revolver.
Don’t surrender to the language of the left. A bump stock is not a machine gun.
Dale….do some research on the bumpstock topic…
THEY REWROTE THE DEFINENTION OF A MACHINEGUN to fit the narrative of what the bumpstock is….
but hey you belive in voting make sure you turn out for 2022 i heard your vote counts and makes a difference.
Dee, your Vegas link is an interesting story but not a single piece of evidence in it.
The government makes an interesting boogey man because we can identify them and, potentially, even vote them out, compared to our neighbors who are much more difficult to control.
But the government is often the boogey man we believe, and sometimes want, them to be so, provide some evidence, any evidence, that this is all true and then it’s worth considering. Until then, this is just a work of fiction
There is another device out which I believe is fairly new. It is a hand crank with a cam that bolts onto a trigger guard. As you crank it the cam pushes the trigger back than releases it. The faster you crank the faster you throw lead. I don’t imagine it will be around long.
Well the NRA will write that into a machine gun as well and sell you out.
That’s, in effect, a Gatling gun. It’ll be interesting to see how long it is legal.
A crank gadget like that for the 10/22 has been around for some years I first heard about it in the mid-90’s.
I found the rapid fire device again. Jerry Miller is testing it on YouTube. I have no interest in have it but the videos are interesting. It’s called Gat Crank.
Jerry Miculek not Miller… auto correct.
Even without all the crap going on, how does anyone not prep.
Seriously, how any responsible adult not be minimally prepared for disasters. Skip the SHTF / Zombie apocalypse stuff and just be ready for floods, fires, tornados, blizzards etc.
How do you consider yourself a responsible parent without preparing to take care of your family in the event of an emergency?
JPup, I went to the market today and it was very busy. Another customer commented that she had never seen it so busy in the middle of the day and the middle of the week.
All the little ones that I ever took care of when they were small are out on their own and in charge of their own pantries but I still keep them in mind as I stock mine. Who knows where they might be in their travels.
Everyone chooses their own level of preparedness, how long, how much, what kinds of disasters, etc., but you’re right. Any husband, father, head of household, who is not thinking about it and discussing with their families and then following up with their choice of preparedness is irresponsible.
because it takes thought and a understanding that things can go wrong. That you might have to stop spending money on lavish vacations to Disney world and understand that the gov won’t save you. Its easier to ignore the problem and keep voting…. and believing that it will get better because your news source tells you so.
JPup: I’ve traveled this road to hell a la dnc before. Those who haven’t do not understand what a planned financial depression is. Right now, the dems are paying people to not work, so they think things are fine. When carter was in, he offered farm loans at very, very low rates. A year later he pulled the rug out from under the people. Farm Aide came out of it. It was meant to suck up votes, but backfired. But, we learned, but each new generation needs that lesson, as well, if it shows its teeth, it’s a predator no matter how nice he smiles. niio
JPup::I’ve come across people that are absolutely, positively, convinced that things are ok and that nothing more bad will happen.
Normalcy bias will cause many to perish.Everyday of their lives
they have had electricity, running water, plenty of food and money. They can not conceptualize not having everything that
makes life easier.
I don’t know if anything will change their minds
Ron I come across the same kind of people, some in my own family. You’re right there is no convincing them.
Guys, for all the altruism here [and I am not knocking it] there is a lot of talk about the whole concept of “my fellow man”.
Are We really in need of validation or do We want to know that Our views will not be superficially opposed ?
Someone who is Not prepared cannot help You if / when SHTF and very likely would not if it came down to making a decision about who starves or gets left to the elements first or on their own.
It it comes to “You or Them”, it will Very likely be You.
When I hear that there are people with family members who are not to be convinced that prep is necessary, I wonder why all the altruism about having them support your view.
An unfortunate reality is that Most people [not All] will let You die if it comes to your family or theirs, You or them.
As for convincing people of a sense of necessity, my view is “Set An Example And Be Prepped”.
If your opinion or your values are of any consequence, there will be people who emulate You.
The rest are the ones You need to be prepared to leave behind or defend Oneself from.
They are either With You, or they are people who may prove to be a problem For You.
@Dale.
I was in a study last year for my master’s in Cybersecurity. We set up a group of people to just do their normal work on a pc. We recorded every key stroke and every click. Some right click to delete. Some use the explorer window to delete. Some hit the delete key. The point is, after three weeks we could identify each study participant by their pc habits. Machine learning isolated every participant’s nuances and traits. In three weeks we could identify all 59 people. Also, other than this website (and VERY LITTLE email), I do use VPN, I leave no online trace. I interned at Tutanota a few years back. I HIGHLY suggest using Tutanota email for privacy.
Tee, you’re certainly more credentialed than am I and, no doubt, know a lot of stuff I don’t know and I appreciate your reply. I have worked in security and encryption in private IT and in the military for, between the two, over 40 years. My experience is more practical and probably not nearly as scientific and theoretical as yours and I don’t mean to challenge your knowledge; I just know what I know.
Years ago, it was proven that just by recording a person typing it every thing they typed could be extracted. It’s amazing how much can be gleaned without ever touching a person’s computer.
I use a VPN on all my devices with unique connections on each device. I can buy something on one device and then, on another device that’s never been used to log into anything or to buy anything, get ads related to what I just purchased. Don’t be so sure that you’re leaving no trace when you use a VPN. I use protonvpn on most of my devices and nordvpn on some. I originally used nordvpn but they actually require you to turn off their kill switch to log in before reactivating the kill switch to use their product. It didn’t start that way but they switched to web based login. I just haven’t removed it from everything. Even so, advertisers have demonstrated their ability to market to me in spite of all I have ever done. If they can do it, the government certainly can.
My only purpose for using a VPN is that Trump’s FCC allowed ISPs to track and sell internet usage data on their users. Since I am in a small town, the ISP staff know me and what I do online is none of their business; so I started with the VPN. Otherwise, I’m not terribly concerned about anonymous knowledge of my Internet usage or obscure government tracking. I’m not tha
When I was in the service, I didn’t do code breaking but I consumed the results of what was broken and I can tell you (you probably already know) that the government’s ability to do code breaking is beyond most people’s wildest imaginations.
I agree with you 100%. I may have a degree, but you have real experience and knowledge. I use ProtonVPN as well. I also use ExpressVPN. Now, the ads are VERY concerning. My husband needed a new wool coat. I wanted to research the price. I HATE using my cell phone to surf because it is way too small (and plus it is a work phone so…) but I was on call and we were in the car driving to the range. I turned on the phone hot spot and I used my tablet to look at wool coats. I cleared caache and history on my tablet as I always do and we get to the range (it was 2 degrees and we shoot outdoors). We have a GREAT time training. The day goes by and we go home. I log on to my home computer and… wool coat ads????? I don’t believe in coincidences.
Dale & Tee: All too often, what companies are allowed is spooky, let alone big brother looming over us. Buy on-line from one company and every company seems to have access to your credit card, and credit. For that matter, all on-line history. Thank you both for posting. niio
you home computer tablet and cell phone are either google or apple driven. So you’re shocked when they all 3 use your google accounts and “passively listen”
That’s the point Raven, I don’t have a Google account. I was using my work cell hot spot. My personal accounts are not even allowed on the phone. But you are so right… big brother can see, hear, find ANY thing he wants. And let’s face it, Google (Alphabet) and Apple are big brother. Orwell was a seer for sure. I REALLY need to stop posting on this site, but I would say it is too late for me. I am in too deep.
I use my google account on two PCs and my phone. I don’t use it on anything else. My PCs where I do log into Google are Windows. I got ads related to what I bought on a Windows PC on another PC without Google and it’s Ubuntu.
Common theory might be IP matching as they all connect to the Internet on a common Internet connection and IP address but the VPN is supposed to block and prevent that.
DNS leaks are a likely cause – dnsleaktest dot com . Or perhaps a single connection to the Internet before installing the VPN that allowed the computers to get tied together. Anything we do after that is too late. Maybe I’ll rebuild the safe PC (the one I didn’t intend to be connected to me at all) and manually set up openvpn before I connect the PC to the network at all.
Any gap, no matter how small, allows them all to tie you to your other connections.
Living in eastern Oklahoma I have to agree. During covid, life went on as if nothing happened. Just street clear of Tulsa. The water is poisoned and it gets too much attention.
A lot of back and forth, take what you need and leave the rest.
Bottom line – if you want a shot at living through a SHTF situation, go where the desperate and/or oppressors will not. Notice I didn’t say can not, because there are very few places that are truly impenetrable anymore.
Choose to occupy territory that others will not choose to occupy, for a variety of reasons.
Have the necessary skills to survive and ensure the area offers the means to survive. Pack for the journey, forget about stock piling, if the chosen location cannot sustain through it’s own abundance, or you lack the skills to thrive – then you shouldn’t
go there in the first place.
The great thing about harsh winters is it keeps out the riff raff.
JPup: Same with our gentle summer sun in AZ. Before April, most local populations will deflate by as much as 25%. Of those who do stay, most are retirees who are very anti-liberal. niio
Red, Yes I’ve been to your beautiful state in the summer and found that I’m not a guy for heat. Summer in Georga was even worse. I guess I’ll stick with the north country.
JPup: Yeah, our summers are akin to your winters.
One great thing is, summer crops thrive in the heat. The food forest is taking shape with mesquite for food, shade, and nitrogen. I love snow and we’re expecting some this week, but I pray no deep freezes. Global warming freaks were shrieking about how warm winter was so God decided to have a laugh and we get late snow. Last year they were shrieking about the most horrible drought ever (it wasn’t) and we made up for 2 years of missed rains in less than 6 weeks. Yes, the drought is still on us. It takes 2-3 years for ground water levels to get back to normal. May all your freezers be filed and the gardens never bothered by critters, 4-legged or 2. niio
