We know the sinking feeling of being unprepared at the onset of any infection. “Oh! We say in hindsight, I wish I had x, y or z!”.
Antibiotics are medicinal substances that inhibit the growth of or destroy microorganisms.
Look at the following list, and grow whatever possible to create remedies to remain ahead of the curve.
Prepare antibiotic tinctures for herbs by covering one cup of the dried herb in a one-quart jar with two cups of 80-proof vodka.
Store in a cool dark place for between twenty to thirty days. Strain the herb into a clean one-quart glass jar.

Blessed Thistle (Cnicus Benedictus)
One can easily forage or grow this prickly herb. Please harvest it using gloves and cut off the stickers.
Holy Thistle, its other name, is a multipurpose antibiotic ally.
Used as tincture, it breaks up respiratory mucus, increases immunity, decreases harmful bacteria and fevers, cleanses the liver, aids circulation.
When applied topically, it becomes an analgesic.
Echinacea (Echinacea Spp. Compositae)
It’s a finicky herb to grow, yet absolutely worth the effort.
Veteran herbalists report that taking an acute dosage of this herb every three hours for three days quells yellow respiratory mucus, pus, puffy sores, venomous bites, poison oak or ivy, and other acute inflammatory conditions.
Even used extensively, in most cases, there are no contraindications.
Olive Leaf (Olea Europea)
Growing and maintaining olive trees in warmer climates is common.
But did you know that the olive leaf is making a comeback as an antibiotic?
It fights infection and decreases viral symptoms, inflammation, high blood sugar, and fevers.
Check with a qualified practitioner if you have high blood pressure before using it.
Oregano (Oreganum Vulgare)
Oregano is easy to grow in a sunny area, kills bacteria, fungi, parasites, and microbes, and calms the nerves.
Ingesting oregano tincture is one way to heal infections.
However, the essential oil of oregano is easily found online or in a natural foods store.
It’s an investment you can travel with. Use as the label directs.
Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium)
Grow this gentle herb to help the whole family during cold, cough, and flu season.
Remarkably, a simple poultice with yarrow, packing the fresh or dried herb directly on a wound, will stop bleeding. It’s a superior herb for lowering fevers.
Yerba Santa (Eriodictyon Californicum)
One can grow this herb in dry western habitats. Often it’s found wild near chaparral plants, another antibiotic.
It is also known as ‘Holy Herb’ or ‘Mountain Balm’.
Yerba Santa is an herb that reduces upper respiratory congestion.
Most indigenous tribes of the Pacific Northwest and the Cahuila have used this plant for centuries.
Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris)
A common garden herb, thyme grows well in reasonably sunny, well-drained soil.
Make a compress using thyme tea to soothe skin infections.
The following syrup subdues respiratory and digestive infections and reduces cough spasms.
It can be used as a restorative gargle when you lose your voice.
Place a cup of thyme in a quart jar and cover it with raw honey. After twenty to thirty days, strain the honey into a new, clean glass jar and put the cap on.

Store in a cool dark place. When any internal infection symptoms are detected, soothe them by taking one teaspoon of thyme-infused honey every four hours.
Rub the syrup over a small wound and cover it with a bandage to heal an infection.
Burdock (Article Minus)
Grow this user-friendly plant and harvest the young root.
Chop vegetables full of color, like fresh carrots and greens, including immune-boosting mushrooms.
Add a few cloves of garlic, and then your chopped burdock root.
Mix all ingredients well in a stockpot. Bring to a boil and bring to a medium simmer for 15 minutes.
Turn the burner off and let the ingredients rest in a hot liquid. Highly medicinal, this soup alleviates cold, cough, and flu symptoms. Consume twice daily.
Turmeric (Curcuma longa, C. Aromatica)
Turmeric is grown in nourishing potted soil in full sun.
Turmeric is a superior antibiotic for healing all types of infections, especially wounds.
Mix one teaspoon of turmeric powder with three teaspoons of warm milk.
Place the turmeric paste directly on a wound and cover it with a small clean square of cotton cloth.
Let it sit for 20 minutes to one-half hour. Repeat as needed until the wound heals.
Yellow Dock (Rumex Crispus)
Yellow dock is easy to find in your background and just as easy to grow in a sunny area with decent soil.
Indigenous tribes across the Northern and Central areas of the U.S. used the leaves for sustenance, just like spinach. They boiled and mashed the root to hemorrhoids and infected breast tissue.
Place three tablespoons of mashed root on a cloth four by four inches. Place it over the infection with a clean cloth the same size.
Let it sit for several hours, then replace it. Repeat until the infection subsides.
Cayenne (Capsicum Annum)
Growing cayenne pepper is easy in good soil and a sunny location. Dehydrate and powder it for long-term storage.
To heal respiratory or digestive illnesses, boil one and a half cups of water with a teaspoon of grated ginger and ¼ teaspoon of cayenne powder, for 15 minutes.
After boiling, add a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of lemon.
Take note that ginger, lemon and honey all have antibiotic qualities in varying strengths – combined, however, they’re a powerhouse. Drink this tea three to four times daily.
Mullein (Verbascum Thapsus)
Grow this majestic plant in full sun, or often discover it at the edge of your driveway.
Mullein is a gentle herb that stops coughing spasms in children and the elderly, it’s known for reducing ear infections.
⇒ What Happens If You Smoke Mullein?
In a small saucepan, heat one tablespoon of olive oil, one teaspoon of dried mullein, and a half teaspoon of minced garlic clove on low for two minutes.
Let it cool, and strain the oil into a dropper bottle. Drop one drop in the affected ear canal and repeat the treatment before bed.
Ginger (Asarum Canadense)
Yes, it is possible to grow ginger, especially in a pot with just the right amount of sun.
For respiratory or digestive infections, take ½ cup of the powdered herb and wrap it in two layers of cotton cloth, twisting the cloth and securing it with a long tie.
Drop the bundle in two quarts of water and boil the water for 20 minutes. Pour the hot liquid into a hot bath and soak in the bathtub letting the skin pores absorb the benefits.
Dry your skin, dress warmly, and get into bed.
Oak (Quercus, Spp., Faceae)
Oak trees are easy to find and easy to grow. Once grown, you’ll have medicine for life. Many indigenous tribes called the oak tree the tree of life.
A tea made from the bark can be used as a mouthwash for canker sores, decrease a bronchial infection, and even alleviate dysentery.
One can collect the acorns, crack them, remove the nut meat and grind it into a paste, adding a few tablespoons of hot water.
Take a cotton cloth five by five inches and slather the acorn paste in the center, leaving about an inch border around the square.
Place the acorn mush poultice on top of a sore or skin infection to reduce unwanted microbes and remove toxins from the infected area.
Building an antibiotic apothecary builds confidence and resilience and saves time and money.
With minimal effort, not only will your family thank you but neighbors and friends as well.

Very few natural herb people ever mention growing cannabis. Where it is legal to do so, I think it’s worth it to consider having a patch for your medicinal garden. It has uses besides getting Moonbeam to the next level of meditation. Glaucoma, pain relief, etc… however, comes with the risk of abuse.
Kratom is also worth considering. Allegedly hard to grow, but an opioid substitute. The FDA is after it, but I suspect that in a lot of their fatality reports the victims consumed other drugs (including opioids, meth, alcohol, etcetera…) or had underlying health issues that exacerbated their chances of death. I believe the risk of abuse is high with Kratom, but having pain relief options is good and it doesn’t have the bad reputation that the opium poppy has. Either way, the potential for abuse is there.
Ephedra is something else too, and supposedly everywhere but Australia. The plant alkaloids act as a bronchodilator and will raise blood pressure. It will also keep you awake for a long time when combined with caffeine, which also increases the cardiac risk – so not for people at risk. Unfortunately, the plant alkaloids are also the precursor for meth – hence the US ban. But, it would be convenient to have around when you can’t find Albuterol any more and you have an otherwise healthy patient with breathing difficulties.
Usnea, (also known as old man’s beard) although it isn’t grown or cultivated like “plants” is actually a lichen – and found pretty much all over the world. It is claimed as a natural antibiotic and immune system booster. There are good videos on YT about identifying it, collecting it, and preparing it properly. I believe it was Nicole Apelian the herbalist and Alone contestant who said if she could have only one natural medicine, that she wanted Usnea.
Assuming that it is legal in your locale to grow these plants, please fence your medical garden well to keep out kids, people and herbivores – and keep your medicinal preparations under lock and key. In the wrong hands, they can kill or be abused.
It’s stinks! It’s an addictive gateway drug putting our children and their future at risk! It boggles my mind as this could be seen as a good thing when smoking tobacco is not. It all goes in the same set of lungs! Now legal in some states, it is making a total mess of our cities and counties across the country. Subjecting innocent people to the stench on the city streets and in the parks! Look at San Francisco! Look at Portland! It should not be available except for medicinal purposes and only by a doctor’s controlled script!
I know, right?
It was a shock to me after flying in to St Louis, waiting for the rental car shuttle – a small group of people were smoking weed right there. I just tried not to breathe it in.
When recreational use is legal, morals invariably suffer. It can also be a type of jet fuel for other things: teenage rebellion. depression. suicidal thoughts. schizophrenia – for that, it can push someone who is borderline schizophrenic over the edge in to “have to have medicine” schizophrenia.
I also appreciate its value as a medicine. For people with severe nausea, cancer, etcetera – it is truly a life saver. On the downside, it becomes easier and easier to get a card for minor medical reasons.
Lol weed makes you suicidal lol ok
I should have said catalyst instead of jet fuel. But anyone with sense here I think understands the inference.
I do not believe weed “makes people suicidal”. However, it can make the lows of someone who is battling thoughts of suicide even lower – after the fact, and that is dangerous for those people.
Hoping it won’t happen guarantees you’ll drown in it when it does. If you’re going to try to help other people out with medicine, you should be aware of what could happen and have them and theirs be on the lookout for all possible negative side effects.
Its a prep channel if you need to unlive yourself now… then good luck when its hard. i share no symphony for those who do that.
And there’s the problem with traditional medicine, hard to find trusted info on what works, what doesn’t, and what causes harm. The culinary herbs are, by and large, also the most widely mentioned medicinal herbs, and using them in everyday food prep is a delicious way to improve health. And then there are all the teas that are great to drink, all the mints, Roselle and other Hibiscus and rose hip teas, Chamomile, Cinnamon. My main problem with this article and most others is that people just reprint lists of ‘good’ herbs with little actual experience in their use
Pot is fully illegal in 6 states, fully legal in 20, and legal in various forms in the rest.
All drugs should be legal
I’d already said earlier oregano was a bad idea for eye drops.
Already had folks yelling at me for saying that was a BAD IDEA.
There IS an oregano eye drop commercially but the % of active oregano is tiny, nowhere where homemade drops would get too.
The problem (well one of many) about Raven Prepper Expert, Hunter Biden, Yahway or the Highway and various other names made up as he loses his hiding himself is Raven truly hates people.
You know bad neighbor sort that thinks throwing bags of human manure over the fence to folks he dislikes, bad neighbor.
Luke 6 speaks to this behavior.
A Tree and its Fruit
…44For each tree is known by its own fruit. Indeed, figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor grapes from brambles. 45The good man brings good things out of the good treasure of his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil treasure of his heart. For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. 46Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I say?…
I use oregano oil and it burns when taken orally, I would never consider putting it into my eye. Not every opinion on here is sage advice. Yes pun intended.
Thieve’s Oil Blend
It has excellent anti-microbial properties. Cured my RSV. I like Plant Guru brand. It’s Cassia, Clove, Rosemary, Eucalyptus and Lemon. I add Sweet Orange to the mix.
Dosage: Take 9 drops in one ounce juice every 4 hours til better.
Although I enjoy reading these articles, I only grow culinary herbs in my kitchen garden, and I only use culinary herbs in my cooking. If need be, I would rather tough it out and let my body fight back, than take steps where I would do any harm to myself making up concoctions which would make things all the more difficult for me.
Lol good luck
Not a doctor it’s not medical advice
Is Anthony Fauci a doctor ? Over paid I would say.I think he’s more concerned about his pocketbook’s health than all humans.A tad bit creepy in my eye’s.He’s well over due for some self reflection . As is the Democrat Party. And all who vote for them.
Oregano will kill any kind of “germ”. Proof of this statement can be found in the Quarterly Review of Biology, March 1998 and the Indian Journal of Experimental Biology, June 1977, among other authoritative publications.
When oregano oil was first tested in 1910 it was described by H. Merindale as “the most powerful plant-derived antiseptic known.” It has been found effective both in killing multiple bacteria (germs) and preventing their growth. It demonstrated to be 26 times as potent as phenol known for its strong antiseptic properties. (Phenol is also a versatile precursor to a large collection of drugs, most notably aspirin, and many herbicides and pharmaceuticals).
DIY Oregano Alcohol (Spirits) Tincture
Used for Respiratory tract GI disorders and menstrual cramps and Urinary tract Disorders, Acne and Dandruff, etc…
Step one: Fill a jar ½ full with fresh or dry Oregano leaves (I also add Thyme Herb), then fill up the remainder of the jar with 80 proof vodka.
Step two: Let stand 3-6 weeks. Shake one minute each day to maximize extraction.
After steeping, strain mixture thru cheese cloth and squeeze out liquid tincture.
I felt like this was the best herb to use to maintain my health because everyone around me has been coughing. Oregano opened my respiratory system!
Dosage: Two droppers full 4x/daily between meals for best results.
